Mike* was a busy company executive who had been losing his hair for many years. Until recently he had not given it much thought, but in the last 12 months he was becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the way his hair looked. As a leader in his field, Mike’s image was important to him as it helped inspire confidence and present a strong presence.
At 57 he didn’t expect to be able to regrow a full head of hair, but was hopeful that he would be able to find a way to retain the hair he had left. He had never given serious thought to undergoing treatment for his hair loss but a fortnight after making the decision to find out more, Mike had researched his options online. As Mike’s time was limited during the day he sent in an online enquiry on the Ashley and Martin website so he would not have to follow it up himself while he was focussed on work.
Mike’s father had experienced hair loss so it had come as no surprise to him when his own hair thinned. He told his consultant that his main objective in seeking treatment was to be able to retain the hair he still had and felt being able to regrow any would be a bonus. The consultant described to him the different phases of growth his hair went through and the reasons his hair was becoming more diffuse. After explaining how medication could help she offered Mike a RealGROWTH® program that had been tailored to suit him due to his age.
Commitment to caring for a sick relative meant it was 3 months before he was able to return to start treatment. Mike quickly noticed that his hair had stopped shedding and had begun to slowly start filling in through the temples. With his time at a premium Mike did not want to come in for progress check-ups as he was happy with the results that visible results he was achieving. His consultant stayed in touch over the phone.
One of the benefits Mike found of being on a program under a doctor’s care was that once Mike’s hair growth cycle had been reactivated to its fullest potential, the dosage of his medication was able to be reduced accordingly over time. Touching base with his consultant sporadically and attending the clinic annually to see the doctor, Mike and his wife are happy to have surpassed what he originally asked Ashley and Martin to assist with.
